What We Do.
A Town Called Worthless Becomes a Blessing
Our long term mission has been providing balanced nutrition, routine healthcare and top-quality education in the form of 1) an on-campus prep school; 2) sponsorships to top secondary schools for our graduates; and 3) sponsorship for attendance at Northrise University for our secondary school graduates that are accepted. We have accomplished this daily for the past 15 years for over 300 students per year!
Phase 1 - Mapalo Morning Glow Academy and Care Center for Orphans
Over 300 Zambian orphans receive balanced nutrition, routine healthcare, and attend a premium prep school that prepares students to take the national exam to enter secondary school.
Phase 2 - Secondary School Sponsorship
Children who successfully pass the national exam are sponsored at secondary schools in the city of Ndola, including two of the best schools in the country.
Phase 3 - Students Attend Northrise University
All students with adequate marks are accepted and educated at Northrise University, Zambia's Premiere University and Mapalo Morning Glow's official academic partner.
Phase 4 - Students Enter a Profession to Help Rebuild Zambia
The project culminates when students remain in country to serve the needs of Zambia and help to remedy the factors that orphaned them and so many other children.
Mapalo Morning Glow Academy establishes ongoing relationships with our children to provide scholarship funds to enable them to go to university, gain meaningful employment, and work to reverse the devastation of disease and poverty in their homeland. We embrace the African model on non-residential orphanages to keep from institutionalizing our children keeping them with their caretakers in a paternalistic culture.
